Heating season: advice on respiratory infections and air quality
With the start of the heating season the number of visits for acute respiratory infections usually doubles by December. The Ministry reminds citizens:
- On days of poor air quality limit time outdoors for children, older people and people with asthma or heart disease. Air quality forecasts are published by Irad Gidromet.
- Do not use gas cookers or open ovens for heating. Every winter there are cases of carbon monoxide poisoning; air the room and call 103 at headache, dizziness or nausea.
- Do not take antibiotics without a doctor's prescription: they do not act on viruses.
Polyclinics work on Saturdays from 9:00 to 14:00 from 1 November to 31 March.
